Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
About P.A.S.E.

What does P.A.S.E. do?
P.A.S.E. is an organization designed to assist people who are interested in learning to write Personalized Letters From Santa. P.A.S.E. accomplishes this via the resources & information available on its website, networking of its members, mentoring and more. P.A.S.E. does not write or sell Santa Letters.

Is there a fee to join P.A.S.E.?
There is a one-time membership fee of $20.00.

I filled out and submitted the online application. When do I receive my password to enter the Members Only area?
The application may be submitted either online in conjunction with your payment made via Paypal or it may be printed out and sent, via regular mail (aka "snail mail"), to the address listed on the application, along with the membership fee. Upon receipt of the membership fee, Elf Sandy sends a "Welcome" e-mail which contains the password to the Members Only area of the website. Approximately two weeks later, you should receive a membership certificate via regular mail.

If I join P.A.S.E., do I become an employee or volunteer for P.A.S.E.?
No, neither. P.A.S.E. is an association of Santa-Letter writers. It is intended to help teach and/or enhance one's own individual Santa Letters project. A good analogy for the relationship between P.A.S.E. and its members is that of a health club and its members. One pays a fee to join a health club and use its resources in a manner set forth by the club; however, one is not an employee or volunteer of the club. Likewise, P.A.S.E. provides its members information, resources and guidelines but there is no type of employment, consultant or volunteer relationship involved.

What about P.A.S.E.'s Officers and Board of Directors? Are they employees of P.A.S.E.?
No. These individuals are not employees of P.A.S.E. and do not receive salaries.

Does P.A.S.E. have an actual physical location, like an office in a building?
No.

Is P.A.S.E. incorporated? If so, where?

Yes. P.A.S.E. is incorporated in the state of Maine.

When was P.A.S.E. founded?
September 13, 1997.

Can anyone outside of the United States join P.A.S.E.?
Yes. There is no restriction as far as geographical location.

Can my child join P.A.S.E.?
Children under the age of 18 years are permitted to join P.A.S.E. with the consent of their parent(s)/guardian(s), who must contact Elf Mary at redlobs99@aol.com prior to mailing any applications or payment.

Does P.A.S.E. have any hand in how I run my Santa Letters project or business?
No.

Does P.A.S.E. furnish me with supplies (paper, materials, etc.)?

No, but we will give you ideas of places and times to buy cheaper.

Does P.A.S.E. provide me with a list of children's names?
No. Furthermore, P.A.S.E. does not collect names of children from its members.

Can I make a profit writing Santa Letters?

Probably not! Let's be very clear about what writing Santa Letters is and isn't in terms of expense and income.
In terms of expense, writing Letters From Santa involves you purchasing supplies (paper, envelopes, etc.) and postage. Then there is the time involved in creating marketing materials (flyers, order forms, etc.) and actually marketing your product! The process of writing the letters and creating envelopes, mailing labels, etc. can also be time-consuming.
As far as income, those of our elves who do sell letters for a fee (some don't) do so at an average of about $5-$7 per letter. You can expect your first year's order total to be fairly low since you have to not only market your letters but inspire trust from people who would be sending you personal information. However, if you are just starting up a business that offers other products or services, this could be one way of easing into owning your own business. It also gives you a pool of customers to who you can market your other services.
Bottom line: this is not a "get rich quick deal." It may not even be a "make a profit" deal! It's more like a labor of love!

How much information is available to me as a member?
The "Members Only" area of our website features lots of samples--letters, flyers, envelope designs--as well as downloadable images, a message board and an in-depth tutorial! There is even a Mentor Progam, where you can e-mail with a "veteran" elf for some one-to-one assistance with your questions.

If I have a question that is not addressed here, who can I ask?
Any of our Board Members below will be happy to help you with any questions you may have!
