Meet Hannah, the Youngest PASE Elf

Six-year-old Hannah has the dubious distinction of being Santa's youngest elf at the North Pole. She lives in Canada with her family including 2 older sisters. As you will see, Hannah takes so much joy in being one of Santa's Elves!

Hannah began sharing stories of the North Pole and being an elf with her family when she was just 3 years old. Heidi, her mom, told me that at this point, Hannah had never seen any of the Santa Claus movies and this was just how Hannah perceived Santa's Workshop and elfing duties to be. Hannah would wake up in the morning, telling her mother how busy she was during the night, so she might need a nap in the afternoon. Upon further questioning by her mom what she meant, Hannah would reply that she had to go to work at the North Pole for Santa. When asked how she got to the North Pole, Hannah responded that the Elf Bus picked her up.its like Santa's sleigh, but it's a bus as there are more elves that needed to be picked up.

Hannah has listed the various jobs she has held at the North Pole, such as doll maker, where. "cotton balls are dyed to the color of the dolls hair, generally blonde as that is the most popular, then the cotton balls are pulled apart to make the hair. Then they are glued in place. The face is painted by another elf with a very small paintbrush. This elf uses magnifying eyeglasses. The clothes are made from material that Mrs. Claus buys. Doll maker elves are girls, as boys really don't know how to make them." Hannah's current job is being in charge of the dolls and toy cars.

When its time for the elves to take a break they are treated to cookies that Mrs. Claus bakes for them, along with fresh squeezed orange juice, from oranges the Florida elves bring when they come to work. "Mrs. Claus also makes the very best hot chocolate in the world", according to Hannah.

There are two shifts that the elves work at the North Pole; the morning shift and the night shift. Hannah works the night shift. There are also two ways the elves get to work; Santa's Bus Ride, a bus decorated with Christmas trees and candy canes and the other way for when its snowing, which is Santa's sleigh. Santa does pick up elves in his sleigh with his reindeer, except Rudolph, "because he needs his rest" reports Hannah.

Hannah describes the North Pole as not always being cold, as some people think. She says that half of the time it is quite warm and since the elves don't live there, there are only a couple houses in the North Pole. "One belongs to the Easter Bunny and is made of yummy Swiss chocolate with a golden roof." (The Easter Bunny told Hannah that the roof is made of real gold, but she told her mom that she has seen him wrapping his chocolates and his roof is exactly the same as the foil.) "The other house is for the Tooth Fairy." Hannah reveals that he takes children's teeth that they have lost and uses them to make his castle. "Every day he is busy with a new sack of teeth, adding pools, fences, and extra rooms."

Of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus' house is also there at the North Pole. "Mrs. Claus has made their home very beautiful", Hannah said. "The bricks are all green, red and white and it is decorated with only the nicest lights." Hannah also reports that "The North Pole is surrounded by the lovely Candy Cane forest where the chef elves get only the freshest candy canes. In fact, any type of candy you could imagine is there."

The elves work in the workshop, but according to Hannah, its really more like a factory. "There are 4 rooms; 3 medium sized rooms and one very, very large room. One of the smaller rooms is the break room for the elves. There are 6 beds for power naps, a couple of couches and a huge table filled with food and drinks." Hannah reports the food is "Sooooo good and there are vegetables and fruits of any kind, cookies, cakes, hot chocolate, ginger ale and any kind of juice all from the bakery."

Mrs. Claus works very hard at the North Pole, too. She runs the bakery and is the head chef. Hannah says there are all kinds of kitchen gadgets and every one is either green, red, yellow or white.

Another room is where all the machines are kept. As you know, even elves need some help now and then, which is why there are machines. The older elves are only allowed to work with the machines, as Santa said that they are more responsible.

The biggest room is the actual workshop. Every elf has their own table with a never-ending supply of pieces they need from the machines and they also get a very comfy chair. About 40 elves work on toys at a time and 10 work on the naughty or nice list. Hannah works in the same room as the Naughty and Nice List. Hannah adds that the song is right..Santa checks that list about twice a week!

Do you wonder what the elves wear to work? Boy elves wear short green pants, a red shirt, red and green striped socks and a red and green striped Santa hat. The girl elves wear a red skirt, a green and white striped shirt and the same red and green striped Santa hat as the boys. Do you know how to spot a real elf? Well, Hannah let us in on a little known secret. True elves are allergic to butter and can only have it on baked potatoes!

Hannah has embraced the true meaning of being a Santa's Elf and loves to share her stories with friends and family alike. She has just the most amazing imagination and we're sure glad she's working with Santa and us!
